Fire & Rescue Fire Warden Training Course
Praxis was able to send 10 members of their project to undergo the above training on 15th February 2007, thanks to a grant from the WECDC Development Fund.
The project worker reported back to us with comments on how the grant made a difference to them
“We would like to send our thanks for the fantastic opportunity to do the Fire Training course with the help of your grant. The day was very successful and educational; the team were given an opportunity to be in situation where they were actually in a “real” fire., which was an experience never to be forgotten. Most of the class work was very educational with regard to the safety in the home, which affects all of our clients. Clients and staff gained knowledge and experience to hopefully deal with life threatening situations with regard to fire and for this we send our grateful thanks for giving us this opportunity”

" I really enjoyed the fire training. The best part of the course for me was when we were in a smoke filled room and the smoke was coming down really quickly, and putting the different fires out with different extinguishers. I found the training very helpful."

"When I went on my fire trainer course I found it to be very interesting and it made me want to learn more about it. This is because we were told how to use the right fire extinguishers and what all the different kinds were for; the foam was used for electrical fires instead of the water ones. We were also shown how to tackle a small fire properly and safely and how far away from the fire was a safe distance. We were also shown how to escape from your home in case of a fire and the things we should and should not do when escaping."
"When you leave a room you must make sure you close the door behind you, this is to stop a back draft from happening, which makes the situation worse. When escaping from a burning building if there is too much smoke in the room then we get down on our hands and knees, this stops your eyes from stinging so you know where you are going."
"I found this course to be very interesting and useful for future experiences"
